Our darling daughter is usually a good sleeper. After bath we brush our teeth and have quiet time for a little bit. Then we kiss goodnight and she takes her bottle to bed and usually stays there quite happily. Of course we’ve had relapses when she has learned new skills or we have been away from our normal routine and living environment. It usually takes 1-3 days to learn to put herself to sleep again.
Well now we are in a different environment and different time zone. The first few days in Finland she fell asleep easy and slept like an angel. It was like she had no jet lag at all, but THEN…
She learned this…
She goes to bed and enjoys her bottle but soon after we hear a knock on the door to let us know she’s up and not ready to go to bed. We put her back and give her a little more milk only to have her climb out again and do the same thing all over again.
Last night it took me until 12:30 to get her to fall asleep. She did have a very exciting day of parties and playing with cousins, which might be why she was overstimulated and overtired. I even went to her room and laid in bed with her, but she just wanted to jump and climb over me. I was exhausted and all I wanted to do was sleep, but she would not let me.
Finally, I nursed her to sleep, which is something I haven’t done for at least 7 months.
This is how I felt in the morning.
I know it will most likely take a few days for her to get back to her normal sleeping routine, but I can’t wait. Tired mommy is not the funnest mommy!
Tonight it’s daddy’s turn to put her to bed!
